Alfre Woodard heads to ‘Empire’ as Cookie’s Mom

FOX’s “Empire” is about to dig deeper into the past. Alfre Woodard has been cast on the hit show as Renee, Cookie’s mother in what the show describes as a “turbulent reunion.” Not much has been shown about Cookie’s mother just a few small refences by teenage Loretha and her dad. How Renee’s return affects Loretha aka Cookie will be interesting to watch. 

Woodard and Henson have played mother and daughter before in “Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys.”
