Spoiler alert: This story contains a major spoiler from last night’s Season 16 finale of CBS’ “NCIS.”
Ziva’s alive! “NCIS” sent shockwaves to its loyal viewers during the Season 16 finale Tuesday, with the surprise return of no other than former NCIS agent Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).
Ziva is thought to be dead but she arrived at the end of the episode to tell Gibbs (Mark Harmon) that he was in danger. The encounter left him speechless and when pressed by Ziva to say something. All he could manage was her name. Cue the end credits.
Fans will be left wondering all summer what was going on, but the show’s producers promised more of Ziva in a big way.
“This surprise moment is just the beginning,” executive producers Frank Cardea and Steven D. Binder said in a statement. “We are thrilled to share that Cote de Pablo will guest star in the NCIS Season 17 premiere this fall as Ziva’s warning to Gibbs unfolds.”
In the episode entitled “Daughters,” Former FBI Agent Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) pleaded with Gibbs to do whatever is necessary to take down drug dealers and suppliers in the area after his daughter, Emily Fornell (Juliette Angelo), was hospitalized from an opiate overdose. Gibbs was also haunted by the personal aspects of the case and his history with vigilante justice — enter Ziva to turn Gibbs’ life upside down.
“NCIS” returns for Season 17 this fall on CBS.
