Tonight ABC and Disney brings “The Little Mermaid” to life with the live version of the movie, “The Little Mermaid Live!” Tuesday, November 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. In honor of the 30th anniversary of popular Disney film, “The Wonderful World of Disney” and ABC are doing a live musical event showcasing “The Little Mermaid.”
The musical will star Joining Stamos and the previously announced cast including Auli’i Cravalho (Ariel), Queen Latifah (Ursula), John Stamos (Chef Louis), Graham Phillips (Prince Eric) and Shaggy (Sebastian).
This special tribute to the original animated classic and its timeless music will take viewers on a magical adventure under the sea as live musical performances by a star-studded cast will be interwoven into the broadcast of the original feature film.
Songs from the original movie composed by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, from Broadway’s adaptation composed by Glenn Slater, will contribute to the event.

For star Cravalho, the chance to star in such an iconic role is every little girl’s dream.
“I [grew up] in Hawaii. Born and raised, Cravalho, who starred in Moana said. “Grew up maybe about 20 minutes from the beach, so I would say I was pretty water active as a kid, and of course “Moana” of which I felt very deeply connected to the ocean, so I’m very, very grateful to be able to play Ariel from beyond the reef to under the sea, I suppose, and yes, I’m boy, oh, boy, I feel there are so many, I feel like, similarities that I can relate to as far as curiosity and wondering what’s just beyond my reach, you know? So I’m very grateful again.”
In addition to Cravalho, the event will feature an appearance by Jodi Benson, the original Ariel.
“I had the absolute honor of meeting Jodi Benson who just brought this wonderful character to life, Cravalho said. “I think that I share the curiosity, and I share that joy that Ariel has. And I think there is just so much room to play with that while, of course, still paying homage to the original character. That’s me anyway. And, of course, there’s so many beautiful set designs and so much of, really, a visual buffet that I am part of this, but there’s also just so much more that I know people will enjoy that I won’t have to worry too, too much about what I bring to the character.”
