Premiering on Hulu on Tuesday, January 18 comes “How I Met Your Father” starring Hilary Duff. The series is a reboot of the long-running CBS comedy that starred Neil Patrick Harris.
Hilary Duff, who last starred in “Younger” and before that as Disney’s Lizzie McGuire plays Sophie, who is telling her children the story of her adventures of looking for love.
In the year 2045, Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: A story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.
“Sex and the City” alum Kim Cattrall plays Sophie in the future, telling her kids about how she met their father.
The series is produced by HIMYM alums Pam Fryman, who directed 196 out of 208 episodes of the original series, original creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are back, Dan Levy, Duff and Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.
Duff is charming in it but it’s not as good as her previous series, “Younger.” I’m not sure if audiences will wait as long as the original series ran to find out which guy from the pilot is the father.
