The 50th Daytime Emmy Awards were held on Friday, December 15 as at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner hosted the awards where the best in Daytime television were honored after the show was pushed from June due to the writer’s strike.
General Hospital was the top winner. The show won the Emmy for Drama Series, Directing Team for a Drama, Outstanding Supporting Actor (Robert Gossett), Outstanding Supporting Actress (the late Sonya Eddy), Outstanding Younger Performer (Eden McCoy) and Outstanding Guest Performance (Alley Mills).
The Bold and the Beautiful won for Outstanding Lead Actor (Thorsten Kaye) and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood).
The Kelly Clarkson Show won two with Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and Daytime Talk Series Host.
Susan Lucci was also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Honor. Actor Shemar Moore was on hand to present her with the honor making it a full-circle moment. Moore presented Lucci with her first Emmy in 1999. Lucci portrayed Erica Kane on ABC’s “All My Children” a part she played from 1970 until the show’s cancellation in 2011.
