“The Talk” has been cancelled on CBS. The news comes ahead of the announcement of the anticipated new drama “The Gates.”
The show, which airs live at 2 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT, will finish the current season and end its run with an abbreviated next one from September to December. The show’s current hosting panel — Amanda Kloots, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Jerry O’Connell, Sheryl Underwood and moderator Natalie Morales — are all set to return.
In a joint statement, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios prexy David Stapf said, “’The Talk’ broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format. Throughout the years, it has been a key program on CBS’ top rated daytime line-up as it brought timely, important and entertaining topics and discussions into living rooms around the globe.
The Emmy-winning show has changed lineups over the course of its 14 seasons. Created by Sara Gilbert, the original line-up included Gilbert, Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Over the years notable names have hosted “The Talk” including Eve, Aisha Tyler, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Marie Osmond.
“The Talk” has earned 11 Daytime Emmy Awards and 56 nominations during its run, including the award for Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment in 2016 and 2018 and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host in 2017. “The Talk” has also won a People’s Choice Award and NAACP Image Award.
“The Talk” airs live at 2 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT weekdays on CBS.
