David Schwimmer, Ana Ortiz, Jayden Bartles and Sam McCarthy star in “Goosebumps: Vanishing” coming to Hulu and Disney+. The series based on the popular “Goosebumps” novels by R.L. Stine, premieres on Hulu and Disney+ on Friday, January 10, 2025.

The series begins with fraternal twins Devin and Cece adjusting to life with their recently divorced dad, Anthony. When the duo discovers a threat stirring, they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, Devin, Cece and their friends — Alex, CJ and Frankie — find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.

The series also stars Elijah M. Cooper (as CJ), Francesca Noel (as Alex), and Galilea La Salvia (as Frankie).

Playing a father with teenage children can be challenging to create a family but Schwimmer, Bartels, and McCarthy as Anthony and twins Cece and Devin, respectively, created a great dynamic.

“We definitely hung out between scenes. I don’t know about any specific tricks. I think it’s getting to know each other, creating a bond outside of, obviously, shooting and your characters,” Bartles told TVMusic Network in a zoom interview. “I think that it was very easy—I think me and Sam kind of got that sibling relationship and, I don’t know, we were kind of thrust right into it. I’ve said this the first day we had to take family photos, so it was right away like, uh, the family, you know, dynamic was- was right there, I guess. But I- I think it was just creating a bond and getting to know each other and I- I- I had a really fun time connecting to them and it was great working with them.”

“Okay, um. Yeah, I mean, it’s- it’s hard,” added Schwimmer. “You’re meeting your “kids” for the first time, right? Um, and you start working, you start shooting in two days. We- you have to do kind of a crash course on set, um, when- when we’re not actually filming, like talking. It’s like “Okay, what about this?” and “What do you think about”- you know, just really trying to make some quick choices and decisions collaboratively about what our relationships are. And hopefully, you know—excuse me. Hopefully you pull it off. I mean. Um, but it felt- it felt pretty good from the start.”

McCarthy agreed.  “You hope it happens, you do some work to make it happen,“ he said. “I think at a certain point, you hope that it starts to kind of take care of itself, you know. Devin comes alive and Anthony and Cece come alive in certain ways—you’re several weeks into filming and they start to, you know, they start to offer up something themselves from somewhere else, hopefully.”

All eight episodes of “Goosebumps: Vanishing” are now streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
