NBC has decided not to include the much talked about “Wonder Woman” pilot on its upcoming fall schedule. At the networks upfront presentation in New York, network head, Robert Greenblatt, officially announced the passing which had been first made public by a cast member.
The series, if it were picked up would have starred Adrianna Palicki, Elizabeth Hurley, Justin Bruening and Tracie Thoms.
Thoms took to her Twitter page to express her disappointment in the decision. “I am very sad that NBC passed on Wonder Woman,” Thom said. “But that just goes to show you: There is no such thing as a ‘sure thing’ in this biz.”
The series generated early buzz when the reboot was first announced and then grew more when set photos surfaced of Palicki’s costume, which looked considerably different than the original and widely recognized costume that original television star Lynda Carter wore in the 1970s series.
Greenblatt explained his reason for the decision:
“They did a great pilot and worked really hard on it. And I have huge respect for David E. Kelley,” Greenblatt said in an interviewwith TV Guide. “But we looked at the schedule and our needs and where things were falling into place. And it just didn’t seem to fit.”
