The NAACP Image Awards were announced this weekend in Los Angeles and aired on NBC. The show was hosted by Sanaa Latham and Anthony Mackie.
Presenters at the show included LL Cool J, Paula Patton, Cuba Gooding Jr., Vanessa Williams, Russell Hornsby, Keke Palmer, Corey Reynolds, Judge Greg Mathis, Harry Belafonte, Sidney Poitier, Holly Robinson Peete, Regina King, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Cicely Tyson, Diahann Carroll, Archie Panjabi, Hill Harper and more.
Performances included Jennifer Hudson with Neyo, Lenny Kravitz, Jill Scott and Kirk Franklin. The show held a tribute to Whitney Houston with clips on her from past award shows that ended with an emotional performance Yolanda Adams.
George Lucas received the NAACP Vanguard Award, Radio One/TV One Founder Cathy Hughes received the NAACP Chairman’s Award and The Founding Members of the Black Stuntmen’s Association received the NAACP President’s Award.
In the music categories Kirk Franklin and Jennifer Hudson each won two awards. Other winners included Jill Scott, Diggy Simmons, George Benson, Sounds Of Blackness, Cee Lo Green, and Mary J. Blige featuring Drake.
