NBC has renewed its Friday night “crime show with a twist” Grimm for a second season, Deadline reports. Inspired by the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales, the show tells the story of Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt, who discovers that he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. The show is great balance of originality and wit as if put a refreshing spin on the crime/cop show formula. The series stars David Giuntoli as Nick with Bitsie Tulloch, Hank Griffin, Silas Weir Mitchell, Reggie Lee and Sasha Roiz rounding out the cast. No word if the show will remain in its timeslot or on Friday, which has been a traditiaonally difficult night to program. The freshman series managed to hold its on oppoisite CBS famiily cop show “Blue Bloods.” “Blue Bloods” has been renewed as well and will return for season three.
