The 57th Grammy Awards are taking place live tonight in Los Angeles at The Staple Center. So far Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, and Rosanne Cash are the night’s most honored artists with three Grammys each. Rookie artist Sam Smith is the night’s big winner with four Grammys including Record and Song of the Year.

In the highly anticipated Album of the Year Category, the artists competing for the Grammy were “Morning Phase” by Beck (Beck Hansen, Producer), “Beyonce” by Beyonce featuring Jay-Z, Drake, Frank Ocean, more, “X” by Ed Sheeran, “In the Lonely Hour” by Sam Smith and “Girl” by Pharrell Williams.

“I want to thank everyone,” the Capitol Records recording artist said onstage upon receiving the award. “We made this record at my house, so I’d like to thank my kids for letting me keep them up at night. I’d also like to thank Dave Campbell for helping me with the record… I’d also like to thank the musicians and producers for voting for my album.” The singer also took home three Grammys earlier in the evening for Best Rock Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical and now Album of the Year for his record “Morning Phase.”

Beck almost received a “Taylor Swift/Kanye West” moment when West playfully took the stage with Beck the same way he did years ago when Swift won the Album of the Year Grammy.

Oscar and Grammy winner, Prince presented the award. As usual, living music icon received a standing ovation when he took the stage. Not one to mince words, the prolific singer and performer took the time to remind the in-house audience and the millions of viewers around the world that “Like books and black lives, albums matter.”

Beck was previously nominated for Album of the Year for his 1997 release “Odelay” and won two previous Grammys for Best Rock Performance and Best Alternative Music Performance for “Odelay.”
