Emmy Awards 2016: Louie Anderson wins Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for ‘Baskets’

The 68th annual Emmy Awards kicked off with the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy. The award was handed to actor Louie Anderson for his role on “Baskets.”

“Mom, we did it, ” Anderson opened his speech as he held his trophy up. “I may not have always been a good man, but I play one hell of a woman.”

This is Anderson’s first Emmy for his FX series role. Anderson plays Christine on the Zach Galifianakis led comedy, the mother of twins Chip and Dale played by Galifianakis.

Also nominated in Anderson’s category were Andre Braugher for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Tituss Burgess in “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” Matt Walsh for his role in “Veep”, Keegan-Michael Key for “Key & Peele” and Tony Hale for his role in “Veep.”
