Today on CBS’ “The Talk,” ‘The Young and the Restless’ celebrated 30 Years at #1 of the Emmy-winning daytime drama. Jess Walton (Jill), Sharon Case (Sharon) and Joshua Morrow (Nick) joined the ladies to celebrate 30 years at number one and share secrets to the show’s success. Walton recalls, “I remember thinking how good our show was at putting the storylines together, combining them, so that all the climaxes…the cliffhangers, it wasn’t just one climax and one storyline, it affected every storyline.” Sharon Case on working with Morrow for over 25 years shares, “Joshua started working there a few months before me, so when I came along and I screen tested, Joshua did the screen tests for all the girls trying out that day.” Morrow adds, “We had a couple of ‘Sharons’ before the real Sharon came along, and I knew right away. I was screen-testing with these others…and Sharon just nailed it. I was like, ‘That’s the one.’” Morrow also discusses fun times with co-star Eric Braeden. “He’s an icon…he’s truly something special. You know, he’s very gruff and powerful and strong, but he’s an absolute goofball in between our takes.”

Also, Case talked about the soapy storyline surrounding J.T’s Murder.
“These women are keeping a secret. They really don’t like each other, so they’ve had to trust each other a lot this last year, keeping the secret,” says Case. “But, there’s chinks in the armor that are coming; they’re starting to break.” On what the cast attributes the show’s 30-year success at being number one, co-star Jess Walton shares, “For 10 years, for 20 years, you’ve thought of everything. It’s the acting; it’s the writing; it’s the sets; it’s the directing. You know what it is? It’s the fans. The fans, I mean, we are like your family, and you feel like our family. And that’s what soap opera is based on, the multi-generational family.”
