REELZ is remembering Farrah Fawcett with more Farrah Fawcett programming. The channel will air a “This is Farrah Fawcett” two-hour documentary from ABC News. This is Farrah Fawcett makes its cable and satellite premiere on REELZ Tuesday, June 25 at 8″00 p.m.ET/ 5:00 p.m. PT adding to the network’s previously announced Farrah Fawcett: Behind Closed Doors special along with other programming commemorating the 10th anniversary of the passing of one of America’s most beloved actresses and TV icons.
From that iconic red bathing suit poster to her role in the hit show Charlie’s Angels Fawcett took the 1970s by storm and captivated the nation with her every move. But in 2006 Fawcett was confronted with her biggest challenge when she was diagnosed with cancer and began an aggressive fight for her life. Now, almost ten years after her passing, in the two hour documentary This is Farrah Fawcett ABC News reports on her life, career, fame and lasting legacy, told through new interviews with those who knew her best and rare footage from the intimate video diaries of her fight against cancer.
This is Farrah Fawcett features interviews with actress Jaclyn Smith, Fawcett’s co-star on Charlie’s Angels; Alana Stewart, Fawcett’s close friend who helped record her cancer battle for the documentary Farrah’s Story; Bruce McBroom, the Hollywood photographer who shot Fawcett’s iconic swimsuit poster; Mela Murphy, Fawcett’s confidant and hairstylist; and Dr. Lawrence Piro, Fawcett’s primary physician; and Dr. Ursula Jacob, Fawcett’s physician in Germany who used alternative treatments for her cancer. The documentary also includes Barbara Walters’ interviews with Fawcett and with Ryan O’Neal, Fawcett’s partner at the time of her death.
This is Farrah Fawcett will air on REELZ the day after the previously announced new original special Farrah Fawcett: Behind Closed Doors makes its premiere on Monday, June 24 at 9pm ET/ 6pm PT. Farrah Fawcett: Behind Closed Doors is hosted by Natalie Morales and reveals the story of the stunning Texas beauty who took Hollywood by storm. With a famous head of hair, that legendary red bathing suit poster and a starring role on the massive hit TV show Charlie’s Angels Farrah Fawcett secured her place among the stars. She would go on define her legacy with bold moves and constant reinvention that many thought would sink her career including leaving Charlie’s Angels at the peak of its popularity in favor of a theater stage.
Farrah Fawcett: Behind Closed Doors is a look at the life and legacy of the original angel and poster-girl-next-door revealing the real story of a star never destined to play by anyone else’s rules. From the unexpected moves she makes in her career to the men she gave her heart to hear Fawcett in her own words describe how she managed superstardom, relationships, becoming a mother and confronting her devastating cancer diagnosis. Sharing their first-hand accounts of life with Fawcett are family members and friends including photographer Bruce McBroom and longtime friend Alana Stewart who is the President and CEO of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation dedicated to fighting cancer which Fawcett started shortly after her diagnosis. Also interviewed are Entertainment Weekly’s Henry Goldblatt, PEOPLE Magazine’s Kate Coyne, and Texas Monthly’s Skip Hollandsworth.
