Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross star in Blackish on ABC. |
ABC’s “Blackish” is known for tackling cultural and socially conscious issues while making us laugh. The Johnson’s also look good doing it thanks to Emmy-nominated costume designer Michelle R. Cole.
Cole is nominated along with “Escape at Dannemora,” “Grace and Frankie,” “Schitt’s Creek,” “Russian Doll,” and “Sharp Objects,” for Outstanding Contemporary Costume Design. If she wins for “Blackish,” Cole will become the first African-American to win an Emmy in the Costume Design category. Cole lends her talents to Freeform’s “Grownish” and the upcoming Kenya Barris Project on Netflix.
TVMusic Network was invited to get a sneak preview of the FIDM’s Art of Television Costume Design Exhibition where Cole had costumes on display from the Prince tribute episode entitled “Purple Rain.”
Check out the video interview below, where Cole talks about dressing “Blackish” star Anthony Anderson and the rest of the cast as well as her history in television and costume design.
The Creative Arts Emmys will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15 at the Microsoft Theater. Primetime Emmys will be televised live on Sunday, September 22 on Fox.
