It’s the year for milestones as Turner Classic Movies is celebrating movies. It’s the 30th anniversary of the movie network that shows classic movies 24/7. Movies loved by viewers including Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and more has been showing on cable tv since 1994. This year also marks the 15th anniversary of the festival that brings classic Hollywood back to Hollywood Boulevard. The festival has also partnered with Warner Bros. and added a TCM Classics Films section to their popular Warner Bros. Studio Tour. The TCM Classic Film Festival runs from April 18-21, 2024. Lady Sings the Blues (1972)
“Lady Sings the Blues” marked Berry Gordy’s Motown Productions into the movie business in a big way with Diana Ross’s Oscar nominated performance as Bille Holliday in the movie co-starring Billy Dee Williams. The movie tells the story of the troubled life and career of the legendary jazz singer, Billie Holiday.
The movie will screen on Friday, April 19 at Chinese Multiplex House 1 with Billy Dee Williams in attendance.
The Searchers (1956)
It is set during the Texas–Indian wars, and stars John Wayne as a middle-aged Civil War veteran who spends years looking for his abducted niece, accompanied by his adopted nephew.
The movie will screen on Sunday, April 21 at The Egyptian Theatre with director Alexander Payne in attendance.
The Silence of the Lambs’ (1991)
Jodi Foster will get her hands and footprints at the TCL Chinese Theatre as aprt of the kickoff to the Film Festival and for a screening of the movie that won the top prizes at the Oscars, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Screenplay. Jodi Foster and Anthony Hop

Gidget (1959)
Many different variations of the character made popular by Sally Field in the TV series and Deborah Walley in the “Gidget” sequels, the character was first was introduced in the 1959 movie starring Sandra Dee in which a young girl discovers surfing and love (in that order) during one transitive summer.
