The Tribeca Festival debuted the trailer for its latest series, “In the Arena: Serena Williams,” a new series coming to ESPN+. Premiering July 10, the eight-part series provides the most complete, intimate, and compelling account of her legendary career, featuring firsthand perspective from tennis legend Serena Williams and key figures throughout her life.
Each episode explores the pivotal moments in Williams’ life on and off the court, illustrating the series of steps that when reflected upon, show the incredible distance traveled over the course of her career.
The series is directed by Gotham Chopra, co-directed by Lauren Fisher, and co-produced by ESPN, Religion of Sports, Tom Brady’s 199 Productions, and Williams and Caroline Currier’s Nine Two Six Productions.
Williams will host the 2024 ESPY Awards on Thursday, July 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
“I couldn’t be more excited to host The ESPYS,” Williams said in a statement. “This is a dream come true for me, and something I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember. It has been a sensational year for sports and an unprecedented one for female athletes. I can’t wait to celebrate everyone on-stage in July.”
