AFI Festival Hightlight: 'Guy and Madeline On a Park Bench'

“Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench” is look at the Boston jazz music scene told through the eyes of a young, up and coming trumpeter, Guy, and Madeline, the woman he is involved with. As the story progresses, Guy and Madeline part ways as Guy quickly finds a substitute for his attention and concentrates on music. Madeline’s coming of age begins as she rents a room from a friendly older couple and works as a waitress in a restaurant. She and her co-workers break into song and dance, showing a great love of music and how Guy’s love of music influenced her life.

Through her journey, Madeline decides to move to New York just as Guy realizes that he needs Madeline in his life. They meet again on the eve of Madeline’s Big Apple move. The movie is a great reflection of love and the love of music.

The film stars real life acclaimed jazz trumpeter, Jason Palmer. The music was composed by Justin Hurwitz and recorded by the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra. The film also stars Desiree Garcia, Sandha Khin, trombonist Andre Hayward, and Kelly Kaleta.

Music is a another character in the film as the movies characters have impromptu jam sessions where they show their craft. Jazz, dance, music and movie lovers will love this unique look at the movie musical. To view a trailer, click HERE.
