Tim Burton's 'Alice In Wonderland' starring Johnny Depp opens tomorrow March 5 in 3-D

Alice In Wonderland

Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland”is finally set to open on March 5th. It’s been almost a year since Burton previewed the film at Comic-Con in San Diego when bootleg copies of the trailer were put up and pulled down from You Tube in the blink of an eye. The wait is finally over.

The Lewis Carroll classic “Alice In Wonderland” is one of the most recognizable stories in print and one of the most popular to be adapted into film, television. There may not be a need to include this summary, but just in case, the film tells the story of 19 year old Alice returning to the world she first visited as a child. Alice encounters all her childhood friends, including the Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp, the Red Queen played by Helena Bonham Carter, the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum and the Cheshire Cat.

Burton was ecstatic to put his own stamp on Carroll’s work which has coined numerous phrases that are so widely used in conversation in today.

“Alice” marks the 7th film Burton and Depp have worked on together, including “Edward Scissorhands” and “Sweeney Todd”, which garnered Depp a third Academy Award nomination, to name a few. Depp has said that he would do anything that Tim asked of him and even would have played Alice if Tim had asked him too.

The film takes a fresh and funky look at the story that when adding 3D makes it even more unique.

“For me, it’s a story about somebody using this kind of imagery and this kind of world to figure out problems in their own life”, Burton said of making the film. “It’s about what’s fantasy and reality and dreams and reality, how they are not separate things, that they’re one thing. It’s how we use those things to deal with our issues in life.”
