Kelly Ripa: on replacing Regis 'It will have to be somebody entirely different'

In an interview with Parade.com, Kelly Ripa shared her thoughts about what her next co-host should be like. Her partner in crime for more than ten years, Regis Philbin, will retire from “Live With Regis and Kelly” on November 18th.

“I don’t think anybody can fill his shoes. It will have to be somebody entirely different,” She tells Parade. “We’re wide open to all possibilities. They certainly weren’t looking for me when they found me. I just sort of got there one day by accident. I was filling in for somebody who was filling in and it just clicked. It worked for us. And I think that when it clicks and when it works, everybody will know. America will know. That’s just how it happens.”

Ripa and the show have been tight lipped about who’s in the running to fill Regis’ shoes. Some names being mentioned are Mark Mark Consuelos, Ripa’s real life husband, Cameron Mathison of “All My Children” and “Good Morning America,” and Anderson Cooper, who launched his own daytime talk show this week.

“Live With Regis and Kelly” airs weekdays mornings. Check your local listing for times in your area.
