The remake of the 1976 movie starring Philip Michael Thomas and Irene Cara, this movie was what would become Whitney Houston’s last movie.
Rounding out the cast are Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Tika Sumpter, Carmen Ejogo and CeeLo Green.
“Sparkle” tells the story of three sisters who form a successful singing group and must deal with the fallout of fame and drugs.American Idol Jordan Sparks has the role that Irene Cara had and Whitney plays their mother.
The original had a huge following and will be remembered not only for the performances, but also for the songs by Aretha Franklin, especially “Giving Him Something He Can Feel.”
