Turner Classic Movies (TCM)has added five films, special appearances and tributes to its slate for theTCM Classic Film Festival, including a 50th anniversary screening of the Alfred Hitchcock classic “The Birds”(1963), which will be attended by the film’s star, Tippi Hedren. Documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles will be on hand for a tribute to his extraordinary career, including presentations of his films “Gimme Shelter” (1970) and “Salesman” (1968). The festival lineup will also feature a world-premiere screening of the newly restored World War I film “The Big Parade” (1925) and a presentation of the powerful anti-war drama The “Razor’s Edge” (1946).
The TCM Classic Film Festival will take place Thursday, April 25 – Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Hollywood.

Tribute to Documentary Filmmaker Albert MayslesThe TCM Classic Film Festival will pay tribute to documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles, who will be on-hand for screenings of Gimme Shelter (1970) and Salesman (1968), two films he made with David Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin. Gimme Shelter (1970), which has been called “the greatest rock film of the greatest rock and roll band,” chronicles the Rolling Stones and their tragically ill-fated 1969 free concert at the Altamont Speedway. This film is presented by festival program partner Bonhams. |
