Henry Jackman has provided the score for the movie “Captain America: Civil War”. In his second collaboration with directors Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Jackman creates a striking score for Marvel’s third film in the franchise, Captain America: Civil War. The film stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson. The film was released in theatres on May 5th. The film has been receiving great reviews with some considering it to be the best Avengers film. Jackman’s score not only captures the intense scenes of the story but also the depth and complexity of the characters as the Avengers fracture and fight among themselves.
When asked about his involvement in “Captain America: Civil War” he states: “It was a great opportunity to work with the Russo’s on this film as it provided a unique opportunity to unleash a fully symphonic score in which we were lucky enough to record around 100 fantastic musicians. The score involves many elements including thriller and suspense moments, and of course, the epic superhero themes hopefully everyone will appreciate. A very enjoyable experience overall.”
Jackman, is an Oxford educated and former EDM British musician who continues his ascension into the ranks of Hollywood’s elite composers.
Well-versed in superhero epics, including X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass, G.I. Joe Retaliation, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Jackman continues the tradition of scoring epic films followed by awards contenders. After scoringCaptain America: Winter Soldier in 2014, he scored Captain Phillips which got him a BAFTA nomination.
This year, the follow-up to Captain America: Civil War will be the score to Fox Searchlight’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award Winner “Birth of a Nation”, which will be released worldwide on October 7th.
Friday estimates for the movie have been an estimated $75.2 million which includes $25 million from Thursday night previews. The film is looking at a weekend around $175- $190 million. Captain America: Civil War’s international total was $291.2 million heading into the weekend.
