‘Dancing with the Stars’: Derek Hough talks being honored at 2016 TV Advocacy Awards

The Television Industry Advocacy held their annual awards ceremony this Emmy weekends hosted by TV Guide Magazine and TV Insider. The ceremony was a salute to television industry leaders who use the power of their celebrity to advocate for social change.

This year’s honorees include Emmy nominees Jill Soloway(Transparent), Tony Hale (Veep), Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Niecy Nash (Getting On), Derek Hough (Dancing with the Stars), Reid Scott (Veep), Dean Norris of “Under the Dome” and “Breakin Bad” fame and “Good Morning America’s” Sandra Lee.

Wendi McLendon-Covey of “The Goldbergs,” who served as the host of the evening’s ceremony, also honored good- friend and former ‘Reno 911″ co-host Niecy Nash.

The honorees will also be featured in a special section of TV Guide Magazine and its companion site, TVInsider.com, which will highlight their important philanthropic work.

TVMusic Network was on hand and talked to “Dancing with the Stars” fixture. Derek Hough, about the recognition he received for his involvement with One Life at a Time and Sophie’s Place alongside his father, Bruce Hough.
