Pearl Jam, Tupac, Yes, ELO, Journey, Joan Baez and Nile Rodgers announced for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2017

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2017 has been announced.

The six inductees include Joan Baez, Pearl Jam, Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), Yes, the late Tupac Shakur.

Producer, songwriter and guitarist Nile Rodgers will receive the Award for Musical Excellence. His group Chic was nominated for the 11th time but did not make the final list. The list was chosen from 19 pre selected artists.

A special exhibit featuring the inductees will open March 30 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. The induction ceremony will take place on April 7 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y

The ceremony will be broadcast on SiriusXM and HBO will air highlights from the awards. Artists are eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single. Pearl Jam and Tupac Shakur were are also the first artists to join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who started their careers in the Nineties.

Tickets for the ceremony will go on sale in January.
