MTV Movie and TV Awards 2017: complete winners list

The 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards were held this weekend in Los Angeles where Adam DeVine served as host. For the first time, television categories were added to the awards list, bringing out a slew of stars from TV, especially streaming network Netflix. On the movie side, “Beauty and the Beast” was the night’s biggest winner, giving the heavy golden popcorn statues for Favorite Movie and Favorite actor for Emma Watson as Belle.

On the television side, Netflix’s “Stranger Things” was the most buzzed about show, taking home Show of the Year and Best Actor for series star Millie Bobbie Brown.

“The Fast and the Furious” was honored with the Generation Award for its successful fifteen years and eight movies having first started in 2002. The series stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Tyrese Gibson were on hand to accept the award. On stage Diesel remembered his co-star the late Paul Walker and thanked fans the continued support.

DeVine was an okay host, keeping the two-hour show, flowing and including his family in a skit. His best moment of the night was the opening number, a James Corben-ish spoof of “Beauty and the Beast” with a little help from Haliee Steinfeld, Rebel Wilson and the movie’s LeFou played by Josh Gad.
