“The Middle” has showcased Eden Sher’s musical and comedic talents before when her character Sue landed a summer job at Dollywood. Now the show is doing a musical episode called “The Final Final,” airing Tuesday, May 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. C on ABC.

In the episode: Sue confides to Brad (Brock Ciarlelli) that her sophomore year in college was kind of a letdown. But a chance to speak to students at her former high school about college life leads her to a realization about her status as a student while at Orson High. A talk with Brad leads into an impromptu musical number about Sue’s many accomplishments over the years and hopefully gets her out of her “Sue, Sue, so so sophomore slump.”

The musical number is called “March To Your Own Drummer” and it’s about celebrating who you are and celebrating Sue,” says co-creator and executive producer DeAnne Heline. “If you love musical numbers you will love it.”

Sher describes the number as “happy.”

“The Middle” stars Patricia Heaton as Frankie, Neil Flynn as Mike, Charlie McDermott as Axl, Eden Sher as Sue and Atticus Shaffer as Brick.
