In ABC’s “The Mayor,” young rapper Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall) needs his big break. For years he’s toiled away in a small inner-city apartment, making music in his junk-filled bedroom closet. Tired of waiting for an opportunity to knock, Courtney cooks up the publicity stunt of the century – running for mayor of his California hometown, Fort Grey, to generate buzz for his music career. But his master plan goes wildly awry, ending in the most terrifying of outcomes: an election victory.

The cast attended the PaleyFest Fall Previews, Screening, Panel and Q&A of their show last month at Paley Center For Media.

TVMusic Network was on hand and talked to the cast as well as the show’s executive producer Jeremy Bronson. Check out the interview below where the former news producer turned writer talks about the concept and the challenges of creating the show. We also put Jeremy to the test, asking if he were the Mayor of his hometown, what would he do in the role.

“The Mayor” premieres Tuesday, October 3 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
