Stone Temple Pilots name Jeff Gutt as their new lead singer

Stone Temple Pilots

It’s been over a year and a half since Stone Temple Pilots formally launched their search for a new lead singer.  The group received over 15,000 submissions. The new singer is Jeff Gutt. Gutt is the former lead singer of  band Dry Cell and was the runner up on Season 3 of the reality show US version of “The X Factor”. The band broke the news on Eddie Trunk’s Sirius/XM radio Volume 106 show before an invitation-only concert for SiriusXM subscribers on November 14th at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California.

Stone Temple Pilots have been without a vocalist since late 2015. Weiland went it to Velvet Revolver and as a solo artist until his death in December 2015. The position was previously held by the late Chester Bennington, who fronted the band in 2013 with the band for an EP, “High Rise” that same year, before parting ways to focus on Linkin Park two years later.  Bennington passed away this year.
