‘The Voice’ Preview: Challenge Week, plus Kelly Clarkson, 5 Seconds of Summer and Charlie Puth perform

As “The Voice” competition heats this week presents “Challenge Week” for the Top 10 contestants and performances coming up from “Voice” coach Kelly Clarkson, Charlie Puth and 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) when the show airs Mondays and Tuesdays this week.

On Monday, May 7, “The Voice” will introduce “Challenge Week” with the 10 remaining artists — Rayshun LaMarr and Jackie Verna from Team Adam; Britton Buchanan, Christiana Danielle and Jackie Foster from Team Alicia; Pryor Baird, Spensha Baker and Kyla Jade from Team Blake; and Brynn Cartelli and Kaleb Lee from Team Kelly. The challenge could be song or genre-based, or having to do with performance and stage presence — each tackling something that they see as a challenge on their journey to become a well-rounded artist.

Also on Monday, Clarkson will perform her show-stopping new single “I Don’t Think About You” off her eighth studio album, “Meaning of Life.” “I Don’t Think About You” is the follow-up to the album’s Grammy-nominated first single, “Love So Soft.” Clarkson is also set to host the “2018 Billboard Music Awards,” which will be broadcast live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC.

On the Tuesday, May 8 live telecast (8-9 p.m. ET/PT), Charlie Puth will perform “Done for Me,” the third single off his highly anticipated sophomore album, “Voicenotes” (available May 11 via Atlantic Records). “Voicenotes,” also features his 2x-platinum-certified smash “Attention,” platinum-certified single “How Long” and buzzworthy collaborations with Boyz II Men (“If You Leave Me Now”) and James Taylor (“Change”). He will embark on his headline “Voicenotes Tour” shortly after, marking his largest North American headline run to date.

5 Seconds of Summer is also set to take the stage on May 8. The band will perform their new single “Want You Back,” which debuted at #1 on iTunes in more than 18 countries and has already amassed over 110 million streams worldwide. 5SOS will release their new album, “Youngblood” on June 22 and their 25-city North American headline, “Meet You There Tour,” kicks off Aug. 27 in Toronto.
