American Idol Top 7 Highlights Video Recap

“The American Idol” Top 7 live performance show took place on Sunday live on all coasts as the show allowed viewers to watch and vote from May 6 on The ABC Television Network.

The Top 7 finalists performed two songs this week, battling it out for America’s vote to make it into the Top 5.

In the episode, “American Idol” paid tribute to music icon Prince. The Top 7 took on songs from the legendary Prince catalogue. The tribute continued “American Idol’s” longstanding relationship with the Prince family, following Prince’s live performance on the show in 2006.

Iconic musician Sheila E., who toured with Prince earlier in her career, performed with “American Idol” music director, Kris Pooley, and the house band for this special tribute.

Nick Jonas served as special guest mentor to the Top 7 finalists for this week’s performances. In addition to singing a song from Prince’s catalogue, each contestant also performed a song from the year of their birth.
