Emmys 2018: HBO receives an impressive 108 nominations, including nods for ‘Games of Thrones’, ‘Insecure’ and ‘Barry’

Game Of ThronesWhen the Emmy nominations were announced this morning at the Television Academy, one network’s programs kept getting accolades – HBO. The network received 108 Emmy nominations for the upcoming 70th Primetime Emmy Awards. 

“Game of Thrones” received 22 nominations, the most of any program, while “Westworld” received 21 nominations, “Barry” received 13 nominations and “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” received 9 nominations.

HBO’s Emmy nominations this year include:

22 nominations for “Game of Thrones,” including Outstanding Drama Series, 2 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Lena Headey), Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series (Diana Rigg), 2 for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (Jeremy Podeswa, Alan Taylor) and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (David Benioff, D.B. Weiss).

21 nominations for “Westworld,” including Outstanding Drama Series, 2 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright), Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Evan Rachel Wood), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Thandie Newton) and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series (Jimmi Simpson).

13 nominations for “Barry,” including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Bill Hader), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Henry Winkler), Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Bill Hader) and 2 for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Alec Berg, Bill Hader; Liz Sarnoff).

9 nominations for “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” including Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series (Paul Pennolino) and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.

7 nominations for “Silicon Valley,” including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Mike Judge) and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Alec Berg).

5 nominations for “The Defiant Ones,” including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series and Outstanding Writing for a Nonfiction Program (Allen Hughes, Lasse Jarvi, Doug Pray).

5 nominations for “Fahrenheit 451,” including Outstanding Television Movie.

4 nominations for “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Larry David) and 2 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (Bryan Cranston, Lin-Manuel Miranda).

3 nominations for “The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling,” including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program (Judd Apatow).

2 nominations for “If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast.”

2 nominations for “Insecure,” including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Issa Rae).

2 nominations for “Paterno,” including Outstanding Television Movie and Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special (Barry Levinson).

2 nominations for “The Tale,” including Outstanding Television Movie and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie (Laura Dern).

2 nominations for “Tracey Ullman’s Show,” including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.

Other HBO nominees include “Ballers,” “The Magical Wand Chase: A Sesame Street Special,” “Michelle Wolf: Nice Lady,” “Night of Too Many Stars: America Unites for Autism Programs,” “Spielberg,” “24/7,” “2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,” “VICE” and “Vice Principals.”
