Sad news. Ranking Roger has passed away. I loved the bands The English Beat and General Pubic. I was looking forward to seeing him back in the states with Special Beat last year . However, he got sick and had to postpone the tour. He was always very nice to my friends and I. I still plays those songs along with his solo album all the time.
Ranking Roger’s ( born Roger Charlery) death was announced via The Beat’s Facebook page. “‘He fought & fought & fought, Roger was a fighter,’” reads the post. “Sadly Roger past away a few hours ago peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Roger’s family would like to thank everyone for their constant support during this tough time.”
RIP Ranking Roger. Thanks for the music.
