‘American Idol’ Crowns Louisiana native Laine Hardy Season 3 Winner

American Idol” Season 2 has crowned its winner, Louisiana Native Laine Hardy was named the winner after a star-studded three-hour season finale on Sunday night. With first runner up Alejandro Aranda and second-runner up Madison VanDenburg, the night saw many firsts, including 4 original songs sung by Alejandro and Madison joined hit country duo Dan +Shay on their hit song “Speechless.” 

The Top 10 contestants returned for a fun-filled night, performing with Kool and the Gang, Montell Jordan, Weezer, and judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan.

Two former American Idol finalist, now superstars returned home to celebrate the season, including Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood who performed her new hit single “Southbound,” and Queen vocalist and Season 8 Idol runner up Adam Lambert. 

Adam performed his new single “New Eyes,” before joining Top 10 finalist Dimitrius Graham for an exciting rendition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”  

The night came to a close with Laine being named American Idol winner and singing his new single “Flame.” 

Both Laine and Alejandro will head to New York for appearances on “Good Morning America and “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”

American Idol” will return next season with host Ryan Seacrest and house mentor Bobby Bones in 2020 it was announced last week during ABC’s upfront presentation.  Whether judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan will return is up in the air.
