Country music favorite, Kelsea Ballerini came to “Songland” to hear unknown songwriters pitch their original material to be her next hit song. Three of the most successful and sought-after writer-producers in music, Ryan Tedder, Ester Dean, and Shane McAnally, produce the songwriters to creatively adapt their songs to fit Ballerini’s style. One song is chosen to be recorded by Ballerini and released for a global audience.

The song she chose was “Better Luck Next Time,” written by contestant Darius Coleman, and then “Shark Tanked” by Ryan Tedder, Shane McAnally, Ester Dean, and Kelsea Ballerini. All of the producers and Ballerini contributed to the song.

“Most of my sessions are all for pop music, but how amazing would it be if this young black guy from Philadelphia wrote Kelsea a song,” Coleman said about his song. “That would be like hashtag goals all the way.”

Since it’s release, “Better Luck Next Time,” has reached the iTunes Top 10.
