Popular soap ‘Days of our Lives’ renewed for Season 55

Days of our Lives” fans rejoice! The Emmy-winning soap has been renewed for Season 55 Soap Operas Digest reports. The show’s executive producer Ken Corday announced to the cast on set that the show was given a one-year offer from the network to keep it on the air until September 2021. 

The renewal news comes at a time when speculation of the show’s cancellation was widely reported by mainstream media following the news that the cast was released from their contracts amid renegotiations over budget issues with Corday and Sony. The show is eight months ahead in its filming schedule.

Days of our Lives” is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Bradys, the Hortons, and the DiMeras, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama.

Currently in its 54th season, “Days of our Lives” is executive produced by Corday with co-executive producers Greg Meng and Albert Alarr. Ron Carlivati is the head writer. “Days of our Lives” airs nationally on NBC in the United States and in over 15 countries internationally.
