No director has been more celebrated than Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. The Oscar winner is back at the Oscars. His latest movie, “Pain and Glory” is nominated for Best International Feature Film [formally named Best Foreign Film], and Best Actor for his longtime collaborator Antonio Banderas.

Almodovar’s career is outstanding, writing, directing and producing such movies as “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,” “Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!” and “Talk To Her” which took home the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Screenplay in 1999.

“Pain and Glory” could land him on the Oscar stage again. In the movie, Banderas plays filmmaker loosely based on Aladovar himself, Salvador Mallo.

Mallo has a mid-life crisis, if you will which leads him to reflect on his career.

TVMUsic Network caught up with Almodovar at the 2020 Movies For Grownups Awards where the Oscar-nominated director talked about his working relationship with Antonio Banderas.

The Movies For Grownups will air as part of Masterpiece on Sunday, January 19 at 6:00 p.m. on PBS.
