EVH

Today TVMusic Network is remembering guitarist Eddie Van Halen of the iconic rock band Van Halen who passed away after a long battle with cancer. Eddie, who co-founded Van Halen in the 70s along with brother Alex on drums.

On Tuesday, Van Halen’s son and Van Halen bass player Wolfgang Van Halen shared the news in a heartbreaking tweet, “I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning. He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift.” “My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss,” he added. “I love you so much, Pop.”

Van Halen, considered by many to be the greatest guitarist of all time, wrote all of Van Halen’s songs including “Panama,” “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Right Now,” “Finish What Ya Started” and their #1 hit “Jump.”

Eddie Van Halen’s most famous collaboration was when he performed the guitar solo from Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” from the “Thriller” album.
