The “American Idol” contestants met “Dancing with the Stars” and the Idol Class of 2006 in a combo themed show that gave some of the best performances of the season.

In the May 4 episode, original “Idol” judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson returned to guest judge and mentor, respectively for the Top 5 – Jordan McCullough, Hannah Harper, Keyla Richardson, Chris Tungseth and Braden Rumfelt – celebrating a “20 year reunion night.”
The first hour of the show featured “Dancing with the Stars” pros Gleb Savchenko, Rylee Arnold, Jan Ravnik, and Witney Carson, who performed while the Idols sang.
Season 5 idols from the Fox years who returned were winner Taylor Hicks, Elliott Yamin, Paris Bennett, Kellie Pickler and Bucky Covington who all sang duets with this season’s hopefuls to help decide the final three. Also returning to perform was last year’s winner, Jamal Roberts.

One of the highlight moments of the show was when contestant Hannah Harper performed a duet with alumni Kellie Pickler. The duo performed “A Broken Wing” by Martina McBride. “A Broken Wing” was Kellie’s audition song when she was on the show.
The judges loved the performance giving it a standing ovation. Lionel said it was “the perfect voice blend and compliment.”
Paula said it was “the melody choices were beautiful.” Carrie said it was “magical,” Luke said it “awesome.” Host Ryan Seacrest asked Kellie what it was like to be back on the Idol stage. She said it was great to share the stage and talent and she is glad to be a part of it.

Alicia Keys serves as guest mentor and performer, plus special performances from Brad Paisley, Blues Traveler, Cameron Whitcomb, Clay Aiken, En Vogue, Gin Blossoms, Jason Mraz, Lee Ann Womack, Mötley Crüe, Nelly, Shinedown and Tori Kelly.
