Actress Susan Lucci came to pay tribute to TV icon Carol Burnett in the NBC special “Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love.” The two-hour special will air Wednesday, April 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will also stream next day on Peacock.
Susan Lucci of “All My Children” fame was on hand to pay tribute to Burnett who worked with Lucci when her character Verla Gruubs appeared on the show. Burnett played Verla Grubbs, Langley Wallingford’s (Louis Edmonds) long-lost daughter, in 1984 and returned for the show’s 25th anniversary in 1995 and 35th anniversary in 2005.
“I would watch ‘All My Children‘ every day,” Burnett shares in the special. “It was on my lunch hour. Agnes Nixon, who created All My Children called me and asked me if I wanted to be on the show as a character.”
Burnett played Verla Grubbs, Langley Wallingford’s (Louis Edmonds) long-lost daughter, in 1984 for the show’s 25th anniversary in 1995 and 35th anniversary in 2005. She will make one last appearance on the departing ABC soap in September in scenes with Susan Lucci (Erica) and Jill Larsen (Opal).
