There are a host of movies nominated for Academy Awards and many are on Netflix to watch at home before the big ceremony on Sunday, March 10 on ABC including “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.”
Nominated in the category Live Action Short is “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” a short film by Wes Anderson which is streaming now on Netflix. For his new series of Roald Dahl short story adaptations, Anderson called up a pair of old cohorts, costume designer Kasia Walicka Maimone (“Moonrise Kingdom”) and production designer Adam Stockhausen (who won an Oscar for his work on “The Grand Budapest Hotel”). Together, they worked to bring Anderson’s artistic vision to life.
The movie tells Roald Dahl’s story about a rich man who learns about a guru who can see without using his eyes and then sets out to master the skill in order to cheat at gambling. “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes and Dev Patel.
The movie is nominated alongside “The After” by Misan Harriman starring David Oyelowo; Nazrin Choudhury’s “Red, White and Blue,” “King of Fortune” by Lasse Lyskjær Noer and “Invincible” by Vincent René-Lortie.
