Global superstar Pharrell Williams already has an interesting and inspiring true story about his life and how he grew up to be one the most successful songwriter and producer of all time, but his story becomes epic when told through the world of LEGO. The documentary world and the world of animation collide in “Piece By Piece,” coming to theaters on October 11.
The movie was inspired by LEGO Brand of Toys. Well, everything in this movie is not completely accurate as the film states: “Not everything in this film is 100% accurate. For example, Pharrell never went to space.” The animated biopic, directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville is shot entirely LEGO brick style.
Synopsis: A producer visits his home to do an expose on the Oscar-nominated and Grammy-winning musician. Through in-depth interviews, we see accounts of his world and how he collaborated with music’s biggest artists including Gwen Stefani and No Doubt, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar in Lego form.

From his humble beginnings growing up in the Virigina Beach projects, to learning drums on a snare purchased by his grandmother, to meeting Neptunes partner Chad Hugo, we see what Pharrell saw.
He learns the music business when Michael Jackson producer Teddy Riley puts his music studio within steps from his high school.
The music is good, and Pharrell fans can stroll down memory lane and enjoy how cute and accurate the Lego figures of Gwen Stefani to Snoop Dogg look. The colors and the settings pop and it does what Lego does best, allows people to create their own journey to wherever you want to go. When Pharrell tells the story behind his global hit “Happy,” we see everyone singing around the world and when the world turned dark, we see his Kendrick Lemar hit “Alright” come to play.
