She may not be playing Erica Kane on “All My Children” anymore, but Susan Lucci will soon be back on our TV screens on a regular basis. Already tapped to host “Deadly Affairs” for Investigation Discovery in the fall, Lucci’s pilot “Devious Maids” produced by “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry, will go to series after all.
The show was got a reprieve from the network after ABC passed on putting it on its fall schedule.
Lifetime has ordered the series for a June 2013 premiere. “This show and Marc Cherry’s unique story telling voice perfectly articulate Lifetime’s strategy of attracting top-tier creatives with their most original and exciting projects,” Lifetime’s president Nancy Dubuc and EVP Rob Sharenow said in a statement.
The series, based on the Mexican telenovela “Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar,” “Devious Maids” follows the lives of five maids with ambition and dreams of their own while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Joining Lucci in the series are Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem, Grant Show, Brianna Brown, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Mariana Klaveno, Brett Cullen and Drew Van Acker.
The show will be shot in Atlanta.
