In addition, fans of classic films will have the opportunity to view a special introduction from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz before the double feature begins. Both films will be shown in the same aspect ratio (1.37) as when they were originally released in cinemas.

Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” is one of the holiday season’s most told story with more than  40 feature films, TV movies and short films on the subject. The 1938 version starring Reginald Owen as Ebenezer Scrooge, tells the story of how Scrooge, a bitter and miserly old man, learns the true meaning of Christmas after being visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, Christmas present and Christmas that has yet to be. He wakes up Christmas morning a changed man. Also noteworthy is the only joint appearance of The Lockhart acting family (Gene, Kathleen and June, who makes her motion picture debut at age 12).

“Christmas in Connecticut” is about a writer in New York (played by Barbara Stanwyck) who publishes a series of well-regarded articles about her non-existent country Connecticut farm. When faced with hosting a Christmas party Elizabeth Lane attempts to create the life her fictional articles portray.

“These films are heart-warming family favorites and this double bill is a great holiday outing for new and old fans alike,” Fathom Events Executive Vice President Shelly Maxwell said. “Fathom Events is pleased to be able to present these holidays favorites as they have always been meant to be seen: on the big screen.”
