If you are looking for summer excitement on your television screens, try Amazon’s limited series, “Ladies of the Lake.

The series is based on the novel by Ken Corday, which centers around the murders surrounding the rich and powerful women of the Avalon gated community.

TVMusic Networkcaught up with Jessica Morris to chat about the series.

Check out the interview below:

Congratulations on the series. How did you get involved with it?

Jessica Morris: Thank you! The producer Michael Caruso reached out to me and made me an offer. I fell in love with the script and [the] role, so I couldn’t say no.

Preview the series for us? How would you describe the series?

Jessica Morris: It’s a mix of “Desperate Housewives” and “Big Little Lies.” Dramatic but also a little campy and over the top in all the right ways.

How does “Ladies of the Lake” compare to those series or other popular female-led series? Or does it compare at all?

Jessica Morris: The style and elegance set it apart. I’ve never seen myself look so sophisticated. The sets, the wardrobe, the hair and makeup…everything is so glamourous.

The series is based on a novel written by Ken Corday, executive producer of “Days of our Lives.” People know you from “One Life to Live” and the Digital Series “Beacon Hill.” What is it that you love about the soap opera genre?

Jessica Morris: I just love to work as an actress. When I come across characters that speak to me, I’m inspired to play them. It doesn’t matter whether it’s daytime, primetime, comedy or drama. But I was lucky enough to start my career on a soap and feel that I learned a lot that way and have made friends and fans for life.

Why should fans watch “Ladies of the Lake?”

Jessica Morris: They will get to see some actors that they know playing very different parts than they normally play. We are all so vulnerable but also very naughty in this series. So that is fun to watch!

Describe your character, Crystal Amhurst.

Jessica Morris: Crystal is the ultimate trophy wife. She holds herself and everything else together perfectly. When she has fertility issues, her husband abandons her. After her initial heartbreak, she gathers her strength to do what she needs to do and help her friends to do the same.

Are there any other upcoming projects you can talk about?

Jessica Morris: My movie “The Hollywouldn’ts” just got released on iTunes. It’s a “LaLa Land-esque” comedy. I just finished shooting a thriller called “The Doomed,”where I play Commander Strickland, an astronaut who is lost in the desert after her space shuttle crashes.
