Broadcast Music Inc.recently hosted “BMI Conversations,” an in-depth, intimate discussion with Grammy-winning producer turned music supervisor, Rodney Jerkins. The event was held at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The conversation covered Jerkins extensive career, from his early days growing up in a musically driven household, to his work with artists like Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child, Brandy and Michael Jackson, and his venture as music supervisor for the hit-show “Empire” on FOX.

Speaking with BMI’s Executive Director of Writer/Publisher Relations, Wardell Malloy, Jerkins shared insights of his upbringing, the music business, songwriting, triumphs, and struggles, from classical music as a cure for writers-block to his days as The Dark Child and more. The evening concluded with a Q&A with the audience.
