Fan favorite series “Timeless” comes to a close Thursday, December 20 at 8:00 p.m. on NBC. The series ends with a Two-Part finale movie that promises to answer all our Rittenhouse questions and race to save Malcolm.

During the episode entitled, “The Miracle of Christmas Part I/II,” Christmas arrives in the Bunker, the Time Team is inspired by a visit from their future selves to find a way to try to save Rufus (Malcolm Barrett).  But when the Mothership jumps to 1848 California, they’re forced to put those plans on hold and chase Rittenhouse back to the Gold Rush, where they encounter one of the era’s most dangerous villains. Then chasing the Mothership to Korea in the winter of 1950, our team helps a stranded, pregnant refugee attempt to escape a tragic fate. Stuck with no way out, our team faces its toughest challenge yet, and in the process, come to terms with their feelings for each other.

The series also stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Goran Višnjic, Sakina Jaffrey, Paterson Joseph, and Claudia Doumit.

TVMusic Network caught up with the Time Team trio Malcolm Barrett (Rufus), Abigail Spencer (Lucy) and Matt Lanter (Wyatt) about their time in the series and slightly tease what’s ahead for the time as the series comes to a close.

Matt Lanter: Jessica is back – causing a lot of heartache. We deal with her in a way that is good. It’s a holiday special so we get  to see all the Christmas tropes where you see what happens with this family as opposed to the normal real life family  and how they deal with traveling through time – being in love, losing a family member and trying to find the ones you lost. All of those ideas along with the big chases sprinkled in, the fights and the travelling not just to America but other places and seeing how that is played historically that you’ve come to love about ‘Timeless’ happens.”

Abigail Spencer: We visit two more historical time periods where one takes place on Christmas Eve and one of Christmas day. These things that I didn’t even know about.

When asked about their favorite episodes over the course of the series, the trio is happy to share.

Malcolm Barrett: The episode with Robert Johnson was marked as his favorite. It paid off because I got to work with Paterson [Joseph] (Conner). That was our behind the scenes patterns and acting styles. He’s more Shakespearean in tone and it put him front and center. We got to see these two characters dynamics and their father and son relationship that had sort of been the backstory.

Abigail Spencer: One of my favorite things. Mine was when we got a new time team member. Claudia Doumit that plays Gia was a part of the time team but the finale. She’s’ so awesome. She and I doing the Reagan thing. It was fun to have her in the fold. It was her first television show and she was fantastic. It was fun for us because he had been working together for a while and it also brought up our next.

Matt Lanter: One of the best episodes ever was the 80s episode where we bring Jessica back.  I liked the way the episode ended right before that. When its like ‘You’ve got to get my wife back.’ I got chills when it happened. And then the actual episode. I love the 80s. I was playing the Pac-Man game between takes.

Abigail Spencer: There’s so many. I think for me, I have three different modes- I always point people towards Bonnie and Clyde for an intro episode maybe. Gorgeous – [Malcolm] had a storyline, the love component, Bonnie and Clyde – their personal relationship where you actually see…everything you love about “Timeless” and the way it looked, and the costumes, it was just gorgeous. If you want the fun- the fun aspect of ‘Timeless,’ watch Hollywoodland and if you want the real meat where the show has a way to change culture and change minds, I do think that the suffragette episode where we met Alice Paul and told her story. [The show] educated so many people and it seems so timely right now. If you want the message of timeless, those are the three episodes that I would direct them to.”
