Whoopi’s back! Whoopi Goldberg made a surprise return to “The View” on Thursday, March 14 after a near-death illness of pneumonia and sepsis. The long-time host has been away from the moderating table at the Daytime talker for more than one month.
As co-host JoyBehar was giving an update on Goldberg’s condition, Goldberg herself walked out to applause and chants of “Whoopi, Whoopi, Whoopi…”
Goldberg, who is still recovering, plans to ease back into her role with occasional appearances beginning Monday, March 18.
“I’m not there yet, I’m not better…but over the next week and a half I will be here more often,” Goldberg told the crowd. Goldberg also detailed the severity of her illness, and jokingly thanked TMZ for not tracking her down in the hospital.
