Katy Perry got to celebrate her first Mother’s day as a mom. Perry and her fiance Orlando Bloom had their daughter Daisy last August. Perry was on set taping a live episode of “American Idol.” She talked about the experience in a virtual post-show Q & A with reporters.

“Oh I wish she could be at work with me, we celebrated yesterday and with many generations,” Perry said. “It is my mom and my sister, my sister-in-law. We used to be 5. Now we’re 15, so we need a shuttle bus everywhere we go. It’s weird, but it was awesome.

Then I got to nap with her this morning, and strangely, she usually naps for an hour, but she napped for two and a half hours with me and I was holding her hand and it was perfect.”

Perry also stated that watching the contestants performing songs for their mothers and seeing their reactions touched her as mom.

“My baby is my baby,” if my baby grew up to be that, even the guys singing original songs like Chayce and Caleb, most of those mothers were probably in a puddle of tears. To see these mystery, strong men be so sensitive and vulnerable and need their mommy, it’s so sweet. It’s so beautiful. I was really moved by a lot of their songs.”
