Check out Dwayne and Whitley’s daughter in the “A Different World” sequel coming to Netflix. The series stars Maleah Joi Moon as Deborah Wayne, the daughter of Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) from the original series.

“A Different World,” a spinoff of “The Cosby Show,” was set in the world of the fictional Hillman College, the HBCU alum of The Huxtables, that Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) spent her freshman year.

The series ran for six seasons and before ending when Dwayne accepted a new job in Tokyo, and Whitley were expecting their first child.

What to Expect From the A Different World Sequel

Fans can expect returning legacy characters, a new class of students navigating today’s social and cultural landscape, and updated themes that reflect the current HBCU experience. The show will offer nostalgia and a new college experience for audiences.

Who Will Star in the new series

In addition to, Alijah Kai, Chibuikem Uche, Cornell Young IV, Jordan Aaron Hall and Kennedi Reece also star. Fans can also expect casts from the original series to appear from time to time.

The original series starred Bonet, Guy, Hardison, Dawnn Lewis who wrote the hit theme song, Sinbad, Cree Summer, Darryl M. Bell, and Charnele Brown. Marisa Tomei starred in the first season of the show. Debbie Allen served as EP and showrunner from seasons two through six.
